Job Opportunities at Inera

Editorial Software Support Specialist

Inera is looking for a friendly and organized problem-solver to provide world-class support to our international clientele. Our ideal candidate has previous experience supporting a complex software product or a background in publishing and prefers a fast-paced, informal, and varied professional setting. All applicants should be bright, detail-oriented by nature, and have strong troubleshooting instincts.

Responsibilities

The Editorial Software Support Specialist takes on a variety of technical tasks depending on the daily needs of the business. Core responsibilities fall into two primary categories, all performed as part of a supportive and knowledgeable team:

Technical Support and Product Education for End-Users

  • Taking rotations on customer support triage, where you will assess the urgency and general category of incoming requests, resolve those within your skillset, and route any remaining issues to the appropriate party.
  • Reproducing and digging into technical issues within our software so that you can clearly describe and log them for development when escalation is necessary. Narrowing down root causes with systematic problem-solving techniques is crucial, as are strong writing skills to describe issues internally and solutions to end-users.
  • Mastering the technical infrastructure of our two primary products, eXtyles (desktop software) and Edifix (web application), and understanding how these products function as part of customer workflows so that you can assess bugs and feature requests.
  • Translating user asks into technical solutions, as well as explaining product functions for a wide range of users with varying levels of technical experience.
  • Suggesting process improvements and changes to the way that Support Team operates
  • Acting as a liaison between our users and the Operations, Development, and Sales and Marketing teams and ensuring a smooth and open information flow and project hand off.

Software Configuration

  • Following internal documentation and customer requests to configure custom software to user requirements. This requires some ability to see big-picture workflow implications and both propose solutions to particular issues as well as anticipate user concerns.

Required Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word (experience with Word macros a plus)
  • Experience with Windows PCs and Macs
  • Some familiarity with XML or HTML.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Track record for acquiring new technical skills.
  • Previous experience in customer support, preferably of a technical nature; at least 1-2 years in a customer-facing role.
  • Located in the Boston area or willing to relocate to Boston.
